walk to win

GoatBlob

Emblob it all,
become the GOAT

Head out, walk, make a loop. Everything inside it becomes your horde’s turf and turns your color on the map. A city block, a park, a whole neighborhood: walk around it and it’s yours.

How it works ↓

The Blob, GoatBlob’s jelly mascot

Three rules, and everything follows

1

You walk a loop

Your path draws a Chomp behind you. Get back to where you started: the jaws snap shut.

2

Your horde swallows it all

The enclosed area becomes your horde’s. Your Blobs merge and grow on the map of your city.

3

The others are hungry too

Nibble the edges of neighboring hordes, defend your own, and climb the rankings of your zone and the world.

Nobody plays alone

Join the horde next door or found your own, up to 30 Blobers. Turf belongs to the horde, never to a single player: if you leave, it stays.

  • The Goat leads the pack, plants the Flags and holds the Treasury.
  • The Right Hands back them up and welcome the recruits.
  • The horde chat opens with just two members.
  • The Blaze, your coat of arms, flies over your biggest Blobs.
  • Two hordes can merge through an Alliance, if both vote yes.

Twelve roles, twelve ways to chomp

As you walk, you level up, and each level unlocks a role. A role makes its weapons better, and some have their favorite spots: the Pope scores big around a church, the Nurse around a hospital.

  • Level 1

    Scout

    No weapon. Just calves.

  • Level 2

    Grenadier

Always pull the pin before saying hi.

  • Level 3

    Nurse

    Never took the oath.

  • Level 4

    Sapper

The only one who smiles when it beeps.

  • Level 5

    Pope

    Exorcises. Come back later.

  • Level 6

    Shepherd

    They’re the wolf.

  • Level 7

    Pilot

    Flies low. Cuts clean.

  • Level 8

    Pyro

    Always a bit too much.

  • Level 9

    Lil’ Chemist

    No manual. Just effects.

  • Level 10

    Kamikaze

    Short fuse. No plan B.

  • Level 11

    General

    No future for your neighborhood.

  • Level 12

    Protector

    Hands off their neighborhood.

An arsenal, but no conquering from the couch

Weapons chomp or erase enemy turf. They have a range: you have to get close to the target, and nothing is thrown from an enemy zone. The heaviest ones are voted on by the whole horde.

What we don’t sell

Walking is the only way to gain ground. We never sell turf, and never anything random: no mystery boxes.

  • Blobiz are yours: you earn them by walking, and you can also buy them.
  • Globiz belong to the horde: they’re never sold, you earn them by walking together.

Seasons, and a medal

The game is played in seasons. At the end, the map starts almost from scratch and the turf becomes ranking points. Your Blobiz and your inventory stay yours. The biggest eater in each horde walks away with the medal.

Look where you’re going

GoatBlob sends you outside. Look ahead, not at your phone, and cross at crosswalks. The game never sends you to a specific place, and a Chomp made in a car is cancelled: here, we chomp on foot.

Your position stays yours

No player’s position is shown to others. If you choose to, your horde — and only your horde — sees where you are while you play. GPS tracks are destroyed as soon as your Chomp is validated: the game keeps shapes, not your routes.

Frequently asked questions

Is the game free?

Yes. You can buy Blobiz to fire more often, but never turf, and nothing random. Walking is enough to unlock everything.

Do I really have to walk?

Yes, that’s the whole point. A Chomp made in a vehicle is cancelled. Only the Pilot role is allowed to ride a bike.

Can I lock my phone while I walk?

Not yet. For now, keep the screen on and GoatBlob open for your whole loop: if the phone goes to sleep, your position is no longer tracked and the loop won’t close. Tip: lengthen the auto-lock delay in your phone’s settings while you play. We’re working on making it work with the screen off too.

Can others see where I am?

No. Only your horde can see your position, and only if you turned it on in Profile → Privacy. Nothing is kept.

What’s the minimum age?

GoatBlob is played outdoors, from age 13.
